Pressing On Consistently: A Mid-Year Reflection

We have now reached the middle of the year. Six months ago, January began with fresh goals, hopeful expectations, and plans for growth. Yet halfway through the year, many of us have discovered that life does not move in a straight line.
There have been good days and difficult ones. Some routines stayed strong, while others became harder to maintain. Responsibilities shifted, interruptions came, and life unfolded differently than expected. Looking back from January to May, one lesson stands out clearly: consistency is not perfection. It is the willingness to keep returning, adjusting, and continuing even when the pace changes.
January reminded us that small daily actions shape who we become. February encouraged us to remember our “why” when routines become difficult. March showed us that quiet progress still matters, even when results are not immediately visible. April reflected on waiting seasons where God continues working in silence. May reminded us that consistency is tested not only in waiting, but also in the demands of everyday life.
Now June invites us into honest reflection:
How have we fared so far?
For me, I am learning that life requires flexibility as much as discipline. We may plan carefully, but we must also learn to adjust while remaining faithful to our purpose. Scripture reminds us:
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
Recently, a friend of mine who teaches music shared how she finally learned to use her time wisely. Instead of trying to do everything, she began focusing on what she truly enjoys and does well. She described it as finding her “sweet spot.”
It made me pause and reflect: have we found ours as we consistently live our lives? Sometimes consistency is not about doing more, but about becoming clearer about what truly matters and where we are most effective.
June also brings many celebrations: International Children’s Day, African Children’s Day, Father’s Day, and birthdays of loved ones born this month.
These moments remind us of the importance of life, relationships, growth, responsibility, and love. Year after year, we consistently pause to celebrate because these things matter deeply to us.
But behind all these celebrations is a greater reminder: while seasons change and life shifts constantly, God remains the one constant in our lives.
People change. Circumstances change. Plans change. Some prayers are answered quickly, while others take time. Yet through it all, God remains faithful.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
As we continue reflecting on consistency this year, perhaps the greatest lesson is not simply about our ability to remain disciplined, but about learning to anchor our lives in the One who never changes. Human consistency may fail at times, but God’s consistency never does.
Mid-year reflections are not meant to discourage us for what has not yet been achieved. They are invitations to pause, realign, and continue. They remind us that growth is often slower than we imagined, but still meaningful.
So as we move into the second half of the year, may we keep showing up faithfully. May we continue doing the small things that align with our purpose. May we celebrate the people God has placed in our lives. And above all, may we remember that through every changing season, God remains constant.
Pressing on—consistently.

Thank you Sally for such an encouragement to keep pressing on in consistency. I thank God for the grace to do that. Be blessed.
